The nose is perfumed and lifted. Notes of blueberry and plum open the performance, followed by the delicate whispers of potpourri. Surprisingly youthful and fresh, even after four years of aging, it showcases a vibrant character that defies time. On the palate, a medium body sets the stage. Tangy acidity imparts a lively energy, while the tannins – fine-grained yet firm – create a captivating texture that coats the mouth in a chewy texture. The presence of mint and eucalyptus flavours adds layers of complexity. Flavours include fresh red cherry, plum, and sultanas. Dry herbs and the intriguing spice of Chinese five spices contribute to the multi-dimensional experience.

Beresford wines capture the elegance, powerful complexity and unique essence of McLaren Vale, resulting in wines of great balance and depth. The McLaren Vale Shiraz is a beautiful example of this, lifted spicy cloves, hints of musky redskin with vanilla bean spice notes — a well-balanced wine with great depth, length, and structure.

Grapes are picked on both colour and flavour development, then gently crushed and fermented for 7-10 days at around 20 degrees. Small open-top fermenters are used with hand pumping over and rack and return to ensure optimum extraction of tannins and colour. Following fermentation, the wine is softly pressed into French and American oak where it undergoes natural malolactic fermentation. No animal products are used for fining or filtration.
