This 2020 Selection Chardonnay is absolutely superb! The nose is filled with brioche, peach, melon and grapefruit pith with hints of toasted nuts and spice. On the palate the wine is seamless with many different flavours flowing nicely together. All the hallmarks of an ultra-premium Chardonnay ar present - the fruit, oak and MLF flavours coalesce together nicely.
Beach House is one of the Hawkes Bay premium wine producers, and this barrel fermented chardonnay is an absolute pinnacle for what arguably a very low price for this kind of quality.
2020 was an exceptional vintage, with a long hot dry summer. Grapes were 100% handpicked, 100% whole bunch pressed and fermented in the finest French oak barrels including 21% new oak. The wine spent 10 months in barrel and was stirred regularly softening the wine and giving it lots of lovely leesy complexity.
