Barossa Valley Wine Co Gravel Track Barossa Valley Shiraz 2020 (Australia)
A decadent & mouth-filling Barossa Shiraz
A decadent & mouth-filling Barossa Shiraz
Description
Blackberry, Chocolate, Oak
Vibrant plum and blackberry characters on the nose with hints of chocolate and earthiness flow through to a rich, bold palate packed with dark fruit flavours. Juicy and fruit driven, powerful yet elegant and with hints of black pepper spice through the mid-palate lead to a rich, velvety tannin finish.
Sourced from premium vineyards in the Barossa, this wine was fermented at cooler temperatures for ten days followed by secondary fermentation and maturation in a combination of French and American oak for twelve months to add greater complexity and depth to the wine.
2020 was an exceptionally dry season with minimal rainfall throughout the growing season. This combined with high winds through flowering and heat spikes during ripening meaning yields were lower than average. Although a low yielding year, the quality was high, with intense colour and concentrated fruit flavours. On average temperatures throughout the season were lower than average which allowed optimal flavour and tannin development.
