  • French oak
  • Boysenberries

This Pinot Noir has aromas of boysenberries and ripe red cherry with notes of mocha and warming spice. Juicy blueberries and black plum, balanced with gentle tannins and a subtle toasty finish.

It’s the little things in life that count and it’s the littlest sheep that help make Babydoll wines. This sustainable collection of wines are pure and intense with plenty of character, just like the Babydoll sheep they named them after. These tiny sheep keep their vineyards tidy year round because they’re too small to reach the grapes. Using one of nature’s mowers means their wines are better for the environment and taste better too. Celebrate life’s little moments with Babydoll wines.

Individual parcels of Pinot Noir were harvested and field de-stemmed, and later inoculated with selected yeasts to enhance varietal character. A fast, hot fermentation proceeded with delicate cap management to craft a wine with elegance and balance. After primary fermentation was complete the parcels were gently pressed and aged in a stainless steel tanks and a mixture of new and older French oak barrels. After twelve months of aging, the wine was blended, stabilised and filtered prior to bottling.

The 2019 growing season in Marlborough was a hot and dry one. They received small amounts of rain around the end of December, but then no further rain until late February. These rain events had very little impact on soil moisture levels, but helped to replenish the rivers, setting this up nicely to see them through to harvest. Vintage started in mid-March and it provided them with incredibly stable weather. This meant they could pick blocks at their optimum ripeness, resulting in well balanced Pinot Noir parcels, showing characters full of flavour and lovely weight. This Babydoll Pinot Noir was harvested in excellent condition and the resulting wine is showing the wonderful characters that Marlborough is known for. Suitable for vegetarians, vegans and a gluten free diet.
