Babich Hawke’s Bay Merlot Cabernet 2019
Opulent, fleshy & smooth
Opulent, fleshy & smooth
Description
- French oak
- Black plum
- Nutmeg
- Fleshy & smooth
Opulent and warm aromas with cassis, black plum and nutmeg. Plush, dense and concentrated. Ripe black and red fruits - blackberry, plum and a big hit of cocoa on the finish. Fleshy smooth and generous.
A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon & Malbec grown in Hawke's Bay.
Grapes were machine harvested and destemmed before being crushed. Fermentation was in a stainelss steel tank on skins with careful cap management to avoid over extraction. A period was spent in tank post ferment to aid integration of tannins. Wine underwent malolactic fermentation and was then matured in French oak for 16 months.
Food Pairing: An ideal partner for an antipasto platter featuring a range of salami and smoked meats, or any meaty casserole, like lamb shanks.
