Beautifully rounded & lingering with succulent flavours
Beautifully rounded & lingering with succulent flavours
Description
Cherry, Cranberry, Oak
A deeply complex and alluring wine with an enticing bouquet of dark fruit, chocolate and spice. Complex layers of dark fruit and oak, silky smooth texture. Opens with rich notes of ripe cherry and dark plum with a hint of dark chocolate. Subtle spices emerge, adding layers of depth and intrigue, while the oak imparts a soft smokiness that elevates the wine’s overall structure. Velvety tannins that provide a lingering finish.
The 2023 vintage in Marlborough, New Zealand, was widely regarded as another excellent year for wine production. The growing season began with a warm spring, promoting early budburst and generally favorable growing conditions. The temperatures in spring were slightly above average, which helped the vines to develop strong growth early on.
Marlborough experienced a mild summer with some temperature fluctuations, but overall, the weather was more moderate than the heatwaves seen in other regions. There was adequate sunshine, but the region also received timely rainfall which helped to maintain healthy vine growth and prevent any drought stress.
While there was a bit of rain in the early summer, the conditions were generally stable as the season progressed. There were also fewer disruptive weather events like hail or strong winds, which allowed for a smooth harvest. The harvest itself was largely dry and warm, creating optimal conditions for grape ripening.
Some areas did report a slight reduction in yields due to a dry spell in certain pockets of Marlborough, but this helped ensure that the remaining fruit was of excellent quality.
Food Pairing: Exquisitely matched with venison cutlets topped with glazed cherries.
