Description

Dry, Floral

"Apricot and peach, rose and red apple, citrus pith and raspberry leaf. A wine of impact and freshness with a brightness and purity of fruit. Balanced, dry, super fine chalky textured fruit tannins. Medium+ acid line and length. The finish of the wine suggests flowers and apricot with a light seam of citrus. Well made with best drinking from 2025 through 2027" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Sep 2025

Scale_1 - Black Market

A fragrance of sweet spring blossoms, juicy berry fruits and a crunchy white peach. Lovely on the palate with a delicate interplay of plum and red apple sweetness. A dry, refined palate that is softly textured, fresh and mouthwatering with flavours that linger.

Heroines; courageous women of early aviation who broke records and transcended gender barriers, winning hearts wherever they travelled.

Since 1989, Alpha Domus has been dedicated to creating wines with exceptional craftsmanship and an unwavering commitment to quality. A small independent New Zealand owned winery, the name 'Alpha' is derived from our founders, while 'Domus,' from Latin, represents home.

Full organic certification further enhances the wines. We work in harmony with nature encouraging biodiversity in the vineyard using naturally derived materials to nourish soil fertility and manage disease. Health is built from the ground up with biologically active soils nurturing robust vines and fruit, improving wine quality and complexity from healthy organic fruit.

Four rows of certified organic Merlot were selected for elegance, delicate colour and fragrance. Careful attention to yield, canopy management and timing of harvest are essential in our Hawke’s Bay climate. Bunches were thinned to reduce clumping and to give each bunch room to grow. A light leaf pluck around the bunches provided some ventilation while keeping enough cover to protect from the hot midday sun. The grapes were hand harvested to ensure the best quality juice at the winery.

Tasting the fruit on the vine is essential to making our pale, dry, European inspired rosé. Harvested earlier at optimal ripeness and flavour for rosé. The juice is quickly and gently pressed off whole bunches to produce lightly coloured wine with perfect balance of fruit flavour, texture and brightness of acidity. Cool and slow fermentation protects the subtle fruit aromas and beautiful pink hues.
