Pinot Country

New Zealand’s diverse landscapes produce a wide range of Pinot Noir styles, each shaped by its region’s unique climate and soils. Central Otago, the world’s southernmost wine region, is famous for its intensely fruit-driven Pinots with vibrant cherry, plum, and spice notes, thanks to its dry, sunny summers and cool alpine nights.

Marlborough combines bright red-fruit purity with a silky texture, while its cooler subregions can add floral and herbal nuances. Martinborough, in the Wairarapa, is renowned for more savoury, earthy, and structured expressions, reflecting its warm days, cool nights, and free-draining gravel soils.

Nelson offers elegant, aromatic wines with fine tannins, while Canterbury and Waipara produce perfumed Pinots with a balance of richness and fresh acidity, often showing hints of dried herbs.
