Description
Chocolate, Oak, Spice
"This wine is a combination of the elegance of Coonawarra, with the substance of the Clare Valley, making it a terrific expression of these two regions. There is intense dark chocolate and blackcurrant on the nose, with the palate revealing rich dark plum and blackcurrant, supported by a thread of chalky tannins and oak. A classy wine" Ray Jordan's Top 100 Reds 2024
"This is immediately inviting on the nose with blackcurrant, dark plum, green olive and toasted almond notes. The palate is equally attractive with excellent fruit intensity combined with spicy nuances, finishing sturdy and fruity" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Apr 2024
On the southern boundary of Coonawarra is the old Penola cricket ground, which first saw a ball bowled in anger and the flashing cover drives of the local champions of 1950. The cricket ground was retired in 1996. The following year, Jim Barry was fortunate to purchase the 30-acre property which he then planted with Cabernet Sauvignon.
