A truly satisfying wine with juicy acidity
A truly satisfying wine with juicy acidity
Description
Dry, Mineral, Passionfruit
The wine reveals intense, lifted aromatics of tropical fruit that lead into a range of complex flavours, including distinct mineral and flinty notes. The intriguing combination of a satisfyingly rich palate, with a juicy acidity really accentuates the soul of this characterful wine.
The Small Parcels Spitfire Sauvignon Blanc takes its name from a famous site in Marlborough that was used as an air force base during WWII. The very first vintage of Spitfire won the supreme trophy at the New Zealand wine awards. Small Parcels are micro-cuvées representing the very best of what New Zealand’s pristine, cool-climate vineyards can produce. They often reflect a specific site.
2022 harvest conditions were good, allowing for the vines to ripen in good timing. Although a bigger crop this year, the quality has been excellent. The weather conditions allowed for the vines to ripen with no pressure of disease, maintaining great flavours and quality.
Upon arrival at the winery, the fruit was crushed, and the juice was drained and pressed straight away. Fermentation was slow and cool, with a selected yeast to accentuate the fruit profile. Only the best grapes from the vineyard were selected for the Small Parcels bottling.
