Description

  • French oak
  • Dark cherry & plum
  • Toasted almond
  • Silky tannins

"Deep, vibrant purple with a ruby-red hue, lighter purple on the rim. The nose is gently full and attractive, with aromas of bramble and plums interweaved herb, black pepper and cured meat. Medium-full bodied, aromas of red plums and bramble have a vibrant core, entwined with dark herb, mocha and a subtle hint of black pepper and meatiness. Tight-grained tannin contributes to a firm mouthfeel; juicy acidity injects freshness. This youthful Syrah possesses succulent red fruit and delicate features on a firm tannin framework. Match with lamb ribs and wild boar over the next 5+ years" Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Reviews, Nov 2022

Syrah is considered a thinking person’s red wine. Soft and delicate, yet rich and powerful. The Church Bay Estate Syrah can only be described as signature Waiheke Syrah.

After 15 long months in barrel, this wine delivers intense red fruit, balanced with dried herbs on the nose. An elegant palate with balanced tannins & lingering finish to warm you through the long winter nights.
