Description
Dry, Lime, Peach
"One of the best local Albarinos I have seen in New Zealand to date" Peter Saunders, Jul 2022
"It's elegantly fruited and fragrant on the nose showing apricot, lemon peel, jasmine and olive notes. The palate is beautifully weighted delivering delicate fruit intensity, well supported by fine texture and bright acidity, well . Well structured and lingering with a crisp-dry finish. At its best: now to 2024" Sam Kim, Wine Oribt, Feb 2021
At bottling the wine was very pale with light yellow/green tints. With time we expect that it will develop some pale gold hints. Pure and fresh, with hints of citrus zest and peach. Medium bodied and zesty. This wine has a brilliant acid line and this gives the palate real length and vigour.
Albariño hails from the North West of Spain and Northern Portugal. This wine is so named because it tastes and smells as pure as the peal of a bell, and it was grown by Doug and Delwyn Bell in their vineyard just outside of Gisborne.
This wine is made from the Spanish MS Clone of Albariño and the fruit was hand harvested and trucked up to Auckland for processing in mid-May. The juice was fermented in stainless steel to maintain fruit purity. The wine was then filtered and bottled on July 14th 2020.
Food Pairing: Perfect with seafood, chicken and paella.
