Description

  • French oak
  • Plum & cherry
  • Spice notes
  • Soft tannins

This wine is rich and generously loaded with satsuma plum, cherry and spice on the palate. Subtle French oak adds layers and complexity and the wine has great length with soft tannins. The finish is long lasting, delicious, dense and fruit packed.

The grapes used to make this wine have been sourced from select vineyards in McLaren Vale, including those planted on the original Goss property. With dominant winter rainfall, warm, dry summers that are tempered by the proximity to the Gulf St. Vincent and low humidity, McLaren Vale has one of the most consistent climates in which to grow premium wine grapes. From various Shiraz blocks grown on clay soils, parcels are vinified and matured separately. Harvest period was from late February until mid March 2018.

The Story A pioneer farmer and landholder of note, Thomas Goss, his wife Mary and their children arrived in South Australia from Devonshire in 1849. After success in the Victorian gold fields he acquired sections of farming land between McLaren Vale and Willunga which are now home to some of the region’s leading vineyards.

Really enjoying this smooth and robust Shiraz, so much so I’ll be grabbing more to see me into the new year
