  • French oak
  • Ripe fruits
  • Plum
  • Fine tannins

"Attractively spicy and savoury, the wine shows dried cherry, clove, thyme and cured meat characters on the nose, followed by an elegantly weighted palate that's nicely rounded and lingering. The wine offers fine texture and lovely complexity, backed by grainy tannins, finishing long and pleasingly dry. At its best: now to 2023" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Sep 2020

"Tinned strawberries with juicy elegance, herbaceous, edgy, wonderful structure, with fine tannins, lovely and youthful" International Wine Challenge, UK 2020; Panel Chair: Matthew Stubbs MW | Co-Chair: Peter McCombie MW

"Fermented in stainless steel vats and then aged in French oak barrels for 8 months. This wine has vibrant fruit flavours blended with the perfect amount of oak maturation to add complexity. Pale ruby in colour. A charming combination of ripe cherry, plum and cranberry with touches of oaky cinnamon and nutmeg. Light on palate but full of flavour, sour cherry, red plum, and wild raspberry with a fine tannin structure. A 5 Star wine for its price point. Drink now" The Wine Writer

Pinot Noir exhibits complex floral, dark fruit and spice aromas. The palate is rich with black cherry flavours, backed up with ripe, smooth tannins and a long finish. This is a food friendly style that will benefit from cellaring for up to six years. Recommended serving temperature 16-18°C.

Pinot Noir is sourced from Sileni’s vineyards in the Mangatahi sub-region, inland Hawke's Bay. Soils are free-draining silt over gravels.

Low crop loads provide ripe and concentrated fruit flavours. Fruit was destemmed into open top fermenters which were hand plunged to gently extract colour and tannin. The wine completed malolactic fermentation and was matured in French oak barriques for nine months.

Food Pairing: Beautifully matched with hearty pastas, mushroom dishes duck and New Zealand lamb.
