Description

  • Summer strawberry
  • Crushed violet
  • Worn leather
  • Baking spices

"Seductive and spicy, this full-bodied, abundantly flavorful wine combines ripe black fruits with attractive wood smoke, clove and anise nuances. It's mouthfilling and rich, but well balanced by acidity and light tannins" Wine Enthusiast Magazine, 2020

Heady scents of ripe summer strawberries make a lovely first impression, while hints of crushed violets and sweet dried herbs resonate on the nose.  Refined and nuanced, the mouthfeel softens as layers of cherry fruit are wrapped in a comforting blanket of pipe tobacco and worn leather. The firm, yet lingering finish is perfectly balanced with touches of baking spices, fragrant fruit and earth tones.

The Bogle family has been farming since the mid-1800’s. Though it was not until 1968 that the father and son team of Warren and Chris Bogle planted their first 20 acres of wine grapes in Clarksburg, California. Today Bogle Vineyards farms over 1,500 acres of grapes. While the winery was established ten years after the first grapes were planted, its success has grown tremendously along with the vineyards. The Petite Sirah has been named 'Heritage' because this was the first variety planted by the Bogle's back in 1968.

Six generations of Bogle’s have worked the soils of this fabulous wine region and good stewardship has always been of utmost importance. Today all of the Bogle’s 1,500 acres are currently farmed under the State of California CCSW sustainability guidelines. Additionally the Bogle family is currently one of just a few wineries who pays a bonus to winegrowers who enrol their vineyards in the 'Certified Green' sustainability program. As Bogle winemaker's believe that taking care of our land and preserving its vitality is not only their responsibility, but will allow the next generation to enjoy many bountiful harvests for years to come.

Each and every Bogle wine created is a unique and exciting blend with true varietal character and an approachable style. With their deep commitment to quality, the Bogle family would not have it any other way.

Food Pairing: While you should feel free to enjoy this wine with nearly any food pairing, a few of our favourites are either a Swiss chard ravioli with sage butter sauce or mushrooms sautéed with garlic.
