Medium bodied with an integrated acidity and abundant fruit flavours of bramble, pomegranate and red cherry, spiced with nutmeg and clove. The savoury notes return with proscuitto, mushroom and tapenade. Complex, with finesse and sensuality - many layers unfold as the wine wakes up after an hour or two. Just a smoky hint of oak frames the back of the palate. The earthiness comes back towards the finish - with a lick of pencil lead minerality. The finish is astounding - imagine all the elements returning in a grand symphonic finale, showing remarkable length. A hidden gem; eclipsed ay other Pinot this year" David Walker Bell, Winefolio, Dec 2020

"This is gorgeously ripe and perfumed on the nose showing dark cherry, spiced plum and vanilla characters with nuances of dried herb and dark mushroom. The palate delivers lovely weight and persistency, backed by flowing mouthfeel and polished tannins, finishing wonderfully long and refined" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Dec 2019

"Immediately engaging bouquet with a sweet oak and red fruited pinosity - red cherry and strawberry, some plum and crushed rose. Dry with a core of fruit and oak, finer tannins and medium acidity. Nice layer of silty soil messages then a return to the fruit and sweet oak flavours. Well-made and ready" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Sep 2019

The 2018 vintage delivers an elegant wine of dark red berry fruits, dried herbs and spicy savoury notes. There are complex layers of spice, earthy cedar and forest floor. Elegantly concentrated with fine tannins and a silky texture and a lingering intensity of dark chocolate.

Proudly, family owned. Their vision is to produce outstanding single vineyard wines that reflect their origins. They feel the only way to give integrity to this vision is to grow grapes and make wine utilising both organic and biodynamic principles. Urlar; Gaelic for the Earth, is the heart of their farming system. Their desire is to bring an abundance of life back to these ancient soils, so you can discover the purity of flavour that is inherent in the land.

The grapes were harvested by parcel (clone) on flavours and skin ripeness. Each clone was fermented separately in a mixture of traditional oak cuves and stainless-steel vats after undergoing a period of cold soak to enhance colour extraction. Their winemaking style encourages fruit complexity, texture and balance. The wine was matured in 45% new French oak barriques for 10 months. The wine is unfined and unfiltered.

Food Pairing: Beautifully suited to a rack of lamb or game dishes such as venison or duck.
