A powerfully flavoursome palate
Wine Orbit
Description
Dry, Gooseberry, Passionfruit
"Intense and enticing, the bouquet shows passionfruit, fig, feijoa and lime zest aromas, followed by a powerfully flavoursome palate offering succulent fruit flavours with beautifully pitched acidity, finishing impressively long and satisfying. At its best: now to 2027" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
"Ripe, tangy Sauvignon with passionfruit, lemongrass, oyster shell, and green capsicum flavours. Good weight and richly textured with a backbone of crisp, mouth-watering acidity" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Jan 2024
"A perfumed nose with gooseberries, green melon, currant leaves and stones. Crisp and crunchy with a medium body and bright, razor-sharp acidity. Sustainable. Drink now. Screw cap" James Suckling
Lime zest, red grapefruit, stone fruit – opens up to bolder tomato skin notes over time. A refined, bold and intensely vibrant Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc- distinctively Awatere Valley, sourced solely from our finest yielding blocks on the OTU Wine Estate. Bold intensity of ripe melon and lime zest build across the palate, offset by vibrant green apple acidity. Crisp and full-bodied with exceptional depth, this wine showcases outstanding minerality and length.
A collection of OTU’s finest, available only in limited quantities, in selected vintages. Every so often our Chief Winemaker sees something standout; an outstanding vintage, an exceptional block of vines, expressive minerality, exquisite intensity of fruit – and chooses to capture its finesse. Small parcels, hand selected blocks & always hand crafted.
Otuwhero Top Block, OTU Estate where the Otuwhero River, fed by melting snows from surrounding mountain peaks. Sourced solely from our low yielding estate with very strong focus on achieving the right fruit at harvest time, late picking to guarantee optimal flavour components.
Whole clusters were gently whole bunch pressed, then fermented in small stainless steel barrels, before being aged on lees for 6 months, prior to blending.
