A late budburst and mild summer slowed ripening, while dry, low wind conditions kept berry size in check. Warmth finally arrived in March, with Bannockburn harvest beginning in early April, three weeks later than last season. The extended hang time built excellent flavour and colour at moderate sugar levels. A late frost on 23 April ended the season, but the fruit harvested was exceptional, with real potential for benchmark wines.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePicked at the end of March and early April. Machine harvested in the early morning, the grapes were pressed quickly off skins to minimize colour and phenolic extraction. A range of aromatic yeasts were used to highlight the varietal vibrancy of early picked Pinot Noir.
