Lifted aromas of fresh blueberry, crushed stone, brown spice and clove lead into a rich and succulent palate framed with a core of fine tannin and a long, lingering finish. 2016 Ironclad is a classic Cabernet Franc and Merlot dominant blend, totally appealing in its youth but developing more savoury notes with time and always rewarding careful cellaring.

Vintage 2016 began with a settled and dry Spring resulting in great flowering and corresponding fruit set. The settled weather continued up to the New Year developing really good flavour profiles in the reds, however wet weather patterns became prevalent which continued into the harvest months. Careful attention to detail in the vineyard paid off with astonishing quality of fruit across the Bordeaux varieties in what was undoubtedly a challenging year.

100% hand harvested and rigorously sorted before destemming straight to vat. All components were fermented and aged in barrel before assembling the blend the following winter.
