"Italian sangiovese can be hard work. It’s usual combination of super fresh acidity and firm tannins make a delicious match with Spaghetti Bolognese but can be a little tough on its own. But here we have an example from the warmer region of Romagna where sangiovese has been tamed to provide a delicious, food-friendly red with an Italian twist.  It has generous sour cherry and baked earth aromas plus some older, subtle oak. The wine is then dry and full-bodied on the palate with punchy liqueur cherry, tobacco and dried herb flavours with supple tannins and an attractive acid twist to finish. This supple and juicy Sangiovese simply shimmers in the glass. On the nose it shows dark cherry and dried herb with a touch of amaro bitterness. The palate is light and fresh with dark, savoury fruit and loose knit tannins. It finishes dry with a judicious clip of acidity.

2019 was hailed as the vintage of the decade for the region, althogh there were significantly lower yields, there was no doubting the quality.

Organic grapes were hand-picked and hand-sorted before whole bunch pressing to old oak.

Love not War is crafted by winemaker Soledad Adriasola Lang. Soledad has strongly voiced her concerns of the impact of climate change and advocated the need to support the future of organic viticulture combined with higher altitude plantings.
