A racy, fruit-driven Pinot Gris

Description

  • Off-dry style
  • White nectarine
  • Vanilla & spice
  • Ripe pear

"A lovely enticing bouquet with aromas of fresh, ripe white fleshed tree fruit, white nectarine and spice. There’s a fine lees lager-beer attribute adding depth and complexity. Silk and satin textures on the palate. Contrasting acidity to the core of fruit highlights the spice and lower alcohol appeal. Balanced and well made, ready to enjoy upon purchase and through 2023+" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier

"Classic Pinot Gris on the nose, crunchy pear, sweet apple, touches of vanilla and spice. The palate is lively with intense flavours of tree fruit, spice and hints of tropical fruits. A long finish filled with ripe pear and spice lingers. Match with chicken or fish tacos with a dash of heat and pineapple salsa" The Wine Writer

This vintage of Pinot Gris displays fragrant aromas of stone fruit and mandarin. The palate has racy fruit-driven characters with a refreshing and tangy citrus finish. Off-dry in style.

Lone Goat's small block of Pinot Gris was planted in 2010, making it is a relatively new and exciting addition to the vineyard. The fruit quality improves each year and has now really come into its own.

Lone Goat Vineyard is the wine venture of Matt King and Marion Seyb who in 2007 took over the original Giesen vineyard established over 30 years ago on Burnham School Road, outside of Christchurch. Matt has over 20 years wine industry experience. The vineyard is named after Ella the original goat on site, now succeeded by Zoe. The vineyard is situated on Canterbury’s free-draining alluvial plains and is 13.6 ha producing approximately 5,500 cases annually.
