A super interesting wine
The Wine Writer
Description
- Dry style
- Lemon curd
- White peach
- Spice & honey
"A super interesting wine and a variety that I have never tasted before. Bold and punchy aromas of lemon curd, juicy lime, a drizzle of fresh honey and white flowers. Flavours of citrus and white stone fruit are joined by sweet lemon and the wine finishes with a light minerality" The Wine Writer
This limited-edition wine displays citrus orange zest and fresh white peach aromas complimented with notes of marzipan, spice and honey. The palate is silken with mouth watering flavours, mineralised acids and a hint of sweetness.
Pronounce Air-en-fel-zer. Ehrenfelser is a German variety developed in Giesenheim in 1929. Lone Goat has 1.2 hectares planted over 30 years ago. It is a cross between Riesling and Knipperle. A rarity in NZ.
Lone Goat Vineyard is the wine venture of Matt King and Marion Seyb who in 2007 took over the original Giesen vineyard established over 30 years ago on Burnham School Road, outside of Christchurch. Matt has over 20 years wine industry experience. The vineyard is named after Ella the original goat on site, now succeeded by Zoe. The vineyard is situated on Canterbury’s free-draining alluvial plains and is 13.6 ha producing approximately 5,500 cases annually.
