Having also worked in Pomerol and in the Barossa with heirloom Shiraz vines, his credentials for making this rich, old vine Portuguese red are second to none. Fans of smooth, mouthfilling wines take note – a delicious blend of Portuguese grapes (Castelão , Tinta Roriz , Syrah , Touriga Franca) with ripe plum and blackcurrant aromas. In the mouth it shows ripe black fruits and cherry notes. Chocolate and liquorice flavours, given by ageing in oak barrique, dominate a long and smooth aftertaste.

Wine Spectator calls Portugal “the most exciting wine place on the planet”, with its terrific range of native grape varieties and wines that always offer standout value. There was a time when this village was famous for the quality of its vineyards and orchards, due to the quality of soil, plantation on slopes and terraces and a singular microclimate, demarking the border between maritime influence and the mild protection of the Cheleiros brook.
