Description
"Bright, light straw-yellow colour, pale on the rim. The nose is fresh and full with accessible aromas of savoury white and yellow stonefruits, along with nutty notes, unfolding a little mineral edginess. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is fresh and lively with light, savoury white stonefruit flavours along with soft nutty elements and hints of minerals. The flavours are up-front and enlivened by fresh and crisp acidity, and the wine flows smoothly, carried by the acidity to a moderately long finish. This is a fresh, bright and up-front dry Pinot Blanc with savoury white stonefruit flavours on a refreshing palate. Serve as an aperitif and with white meat dishes over the next 2 years. A label for Nevis Bluff Wines. Hand-picked fruit from the ‘L’Attitude’ vineyard cool-fermented to 13.5% alc. and 4.5 g/L RS. Winemaker: Duncan Forsyth" Raymond Chan, Mar 2018
"This is elegantly expressed on the nose showing white stone fruit, lemon peel, almond and oatmeal characters with subtle wet limestone notes. The palate is beautifully weighted and rounded, delivering lovely textural mouthfeel backed by seamlessly integrated acidity. A gorgeous food partner, this is restrained yet flavoursome. At its best: now to 2020" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, March 2018
"Produced by Nevis Bluff Wines - aromas and flavours of white fleshed tree fruits laced with white pepper spices and wild white flowers. Varietal with a twist of citrus alongside apple and pear. Just dry on the palate with a core of spicy white fleshed fruits, medium acidity and just warm alcohol. balanced , well made and ready" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Mar 2019
Pear, spice and citrus aromas are followed by flavours of stone fruit with a delicate creamy like texture. Thus is underpinned by mineral notes and refreshing acidity. The wine is off dry in style, a delicate style of Pinot Blanc.
Merrill’s Block is a warm and sheltered plot in the Vineyard which was planted in 2001 with the GM2 clone of Pinot Blanc. These small, tight bunches are handpicked early in the vineyard to encourage freshness in this early drinking style of wine. Residual sugar in this wine is 4.5g/l.
