Description
"Even, light ruby-red colour, a little lighter edged with slight purple hues. The nose is elegantly presented with fragrant and lifted aromas of red cherry and berry fruit, along with red florals, unveiling fine liquorice and dark herb detail. The aromatics are the feature. Medium-bodied, the palate is elegantly proportioned with bright, fragrant flavours of red cherries and berries, along with red florals, and subtle notes of herbs and liquorice. The palate has a gentle richness and sweetness with an underlying linear drive. The mouthfeel is refreshing and lively with a fine-textured core and lively, balanced acidity. The wine carries to an elegant finish. This is an elegant, fragrant, red cherry and floral fruited Pinot Noir with a bright mouthfeel and fine tannins. Match with poultry and pork over the next 5-6 years. Clone 777, 114 and Abel from Wanaka, fermented with approx. 10% whole bunches to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 10% new oak" Raymond Chan, Dec 2017
"Richly fruited and beautifully expressed, the bouquet shows dark berry, game, black olive and toasted almond characters. The palate is equally attractive, displaying excellent fruit concentration and weight, wonderfully enhanced by supple mouthfeel and fine tannins. The wine offers elegance as well as loads of delectable fruit flavours. At its best: now to 2020" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jan 2018
Intensely and brightly coloured wine with a deep red/purple hue in the glass. It is sweetly fragrant and inviting on the nose showing red/black cherry, raspberry coulis, vanilla and hazelnut characters with a hint of savoury complexity. Juicy and beautifully rounded, displaying plush texture and silky tannins, finishing long and velvety. The wine delivers pristine fruit flavours together with spicy/savoury nuances, making it instantly appealing.
The TIKI is a hand carved Maori treasure which, when gifted, bestows good fortune and love on others. We craft our wines with the same spirit in mind. KORO is Maori for grandfather and this wine is named to honour Royce McKean’s great grandfather Chief Tiki Tere Mihi.
The fruit was fermented in small open top fermenters with approx. 10% whole bunch. The total time on skins from cold soak to pressing was four weeks. Post pressing the wine was matured in French oak barriques, 10% new, for 10 months. Drinking well now but will continue to develop for a further five years from vintage date.
Food Pairing: Pinot Noir can be enjoyed with an extraordinary variety of dishes. This wine is best suited to full-flavoured dishes such as venison with savoury sauces, roast duck or a pork loin served with potatoes and herbs.
