McWilliams Hanwood Estate Shiraz 2017 (Australia)
McWilliams Hanwood Estate Shiraz 2017 (Australia)
Description
Dark ruby red with violet hues in the glass with aromas of blackberry, dark fruits with subtle hints of black pepper and aromatic spices. the palate offers a balanced wine of black cherry, raspberry flavours complemented by subtle fine tannins and toasty mocha oak providing a palate that lingers.
Shiraz was harvested in early March and was fermented on skins in automated stainless steel fermenters for a period of 5-6 days to allow for full colour and tannin extraction. The must was then pressed off and racked into premium American oak to add richness and complexity during maturation. Once maturation was completed after approximately 9 months, selected parcels of Shiraz were blended together to form this wine and a small amount of fining was done to balance this wine before bottling.
