Description

"A gorgeous medium-style Riesling; the elegantly fragrant bouquet shows lemon curd, lime sorbet, apple and floral characters. The palate is concentrated and tightly focused, delivering pristine fruit flavours with subtle sweetness, backed by racy acidity. Wonderfully balanced and integrated, and offers fabulous drinking. At its best: now to 2022" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, December 2017

Trapped in the bottle are Galeforce aromas of lemon citrus, lime zest and freshly cut apple leading to the perfect balance between natural fruit sweetness and the crisp chalky acidity.

The Awatere Valley of Marlborough is a relatively new grape growing region of New Zealand. The most powerful element this valley has upon vines is the wind. Predominantly from the West, these winds drive through the valley from any direction and quite often reach Galeforce intensity. Galeforce winds are very unnatural for vines and they expend all their energy into producing the juiciest fruit with the most flavour for the birds to spread their seed. The fruit is harvested before the birds can get to them.

Gentle handling of the fruit helped retain all the delicate aromas of the juice. Carefully selected yeasts were added and the ferment was controlled with low temperatures. Once there was a perfect balance between the natural sweetness and acidity the ferment was stopped and the wine was left on its lees for 5 months. Residual Sugar in this wine is 42 g/L.

Food Pairing: This medium sweet wine is ideal with asian cuisine or as a lunchtime aperitif.

I love this summer Riesling; have purchased this one twice before! Naturally lower in alcohol, so suitably light for an early evening event.

Maree - 24/02/2018

An enjoyable, easy-drinking Riesling.

Helen - 23/03/2019

This is good because I've trained my palate on to milder wines. This has a sweetness to it which is surprising. Good with ice!

Graham - 17/01/2019

Up to the usual standard for this brand and variety. A nice refreshing fruity drop without overbearing alcohol.

A wine that while still green shows a lot of potential if stored for 12 months or more
