Description

"Beautifully complex and fragrant, the inviting bouquet shows ripe stone fruit, rockmelon, nougat, cedar and vanilla notes with a hint of flinty complexity. The palate is concentrated and impressively weighted, delivering pristine fruit flavours backed by creamy mouthfeel and bright acidity. Wonderfully composed and expressed. At its best: now to 2021" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jan 2018

The nose  shows ripe nectarine and peach with hints of smoky oak. The palate is rich yet elegant with concentrated fruit, nutty complexity and a fresh fine finish.

Fruit for this wine was sourced from mature vineyards in the Dartmoor valley, a combination of Clone 15 and Mendoza. 2016 was an outstanding year for chardonnay in Hawkes Bay, the mild temperate season allowing for excellent fruit ripeness and balance. This wine was fermented in barrels and had extended maturation on lees to build textural complexity.

Food Pairing: Excellent with roast chicken stuffed with lemon and thyme, salmon seared on a smoky grill, or for the more adventurous, huhu grubs sautéed in garlic butter.
