An Australian classic, this red wine is renowned for its flavour and consistency with rich fruit flavours or ripe berry and stewed plums. This is rounded off with a smooth mouth filling finish. Rich and flavoursome reds have been favoured in Australia for many years and this classic red is no exception. Deep cherry red in colour, the McGuigan Black Label Red 2016 delivers intense aromas of cherry and blackcurrant with notes of spicy oak. The palate is smooth and displays sweet ripe berries and cherries, with good length and complexity.

The fruit for this approachable, full flavoured wine was sourced from our vineyards in South Eastern Australia. The climate is hot with high evaporation rates and generally low rainfall, making irrigation essential. The climate is also continental, resulting in long sunny days and noticeably cooler nights. Long sunshine hours ensure fruit ripens fully and low relative humidity results in little incidence of disease.

A percentage of the juice for this blend was aged in French & American oak to enhance the rounded body of the wine. Whilst post fermentation the wine was matured and blended to all the winemaker to create the smooth approachable fruit dominate wine that this label has become renowned for.
