Rameau D’Or Côtes De Provence Rosé 2016 (France)

Awarded 88/100 Points: Cameron Douglas, Master Somilier, 2017

"Attractive fragrances of light red fruits - light red cherry and strawberry with a hint of cranberry; these are repeated on the palate with a crisp and refreshing acidity, very light and fine needle point tannins showing off a chalky mineral-like moment" Cameron Douglas, Master Somilier
On the nose the wine offers a hint of wild strawberries and delicate spicy notes reminiscent of rose petal  turkish delight.
On the palate the wine shows immediate soft berry-fruit flavours that are immediately appealing. Then a hint of white pepper and fennel spice comes through providing  a fresh, almost tangy finish which lingers on the palate.

Food Pairing: A delicious wine that suits apéritif drinking, but is also a superb accompaniment to grilled seafood, creamy risotto  and pasta dishes.

Big Bunch Hawke’s Bay Rose 2014

AWARDED 90/100 POINTS: Sam Kim Wine Orbit

"An immediately appealing rose, it's beautifully expressed on the nose displaying candied apple, citrus and strawberry aromas. The palate is ripe and juicy with lovely mid palate weight and texture, leading to a lingering smooth finish. At its best: now to 2016" Sam Kim Wine Orbit
A fragrant bouquet of fresh petals, confectionary and strawberry notes dominate the nose. An intensely flavoured palate with lovely richness, finishing balanced and polished. A dry styled wine which is fantastic for warm summer days.

Ferraton ‘Samorens’ Rose 2016 (France)

Intense and bright rosé colour in the glass with aromas of red berries (raspberries, red currant) in the bouquet. The palate is fresh and lively attack, wine displaying a lot of freshness, roundness with aromas of red fruit (strawberry, raspberry). A lot of minerality on the finish.

The grapes (Grenache (75%), Syrah, Cinsault) for this rosé are grown on vineyards situated on the right bank of the Rhône with alluvial soils of limestone, sand, pebbles and clay. The juice after crushing was cold settling for 24 hours with fermentation, in vats, lasting for 15 days at a temperature between 15 and 19°C.

Spy Valley Marlborough Pinot Noir Rosé 2017

AWARDED 17.5/20 POINTS: Raymond Chan, Oct 2017

"Very pale salmon-pink colour, near colourless on the rim. The nose is light and delicately fragrant with aromas of white stonefruits and subtle notes of red fruits and florals, along with thirst-quenching minerals. Dry to taste and light-medium bodied, the palate has a fine, elegantly concentrated core of white stonefruits with subtle red berry fruit and floral elements. The fruit has a delicate richness, balanced by mouthwatering mineral notes and light phenolic textures. The acidity provides good freshness, and the wine carries to a light, minerally finish. This is a delicate and finely concentrated dry rosé with stonefruit, berry and floral flavours and thirst-quenching minerals on a light-textured palate. This is in the Provencal rosé style. Serve as an aperitif and with canapes over the next 2 years. Predominantly Pinot Noir, 95% hand-picked and WBP, 5% saignee, fermented in stainless-steel with a small percentage with solids in barrel to 12.5% alc. and 4.2 g/L RS. A small portion of estate Syrah and Malbec was WBP and tank fermented and added to the final blend" Raymond Chan, Oct 2017

SECRET #4 Select grapes are handpicked from our winery blocks and a portion fermented in oak for the perfect amount of time to create this refreshing and dry Rosé with a delightful richness.

Peach and strawberry fruit aromas with an uplifting floral/ blossom note, with a dry and thirst quenching palate. There is underlying mineral and grapefruit component to the flavours that complement the aroma.

95% of the grapes were handpicked and whole bunch pressed, with 5% being a “ Saignee” of juice immediately drained from handpicked fruit destemmed to vats. A small portion was fermented on solids and in barrels with the remainder undergoing stainless steel tank fermentation. As well as the Pinot Noir a small percentage of Syrah and Malbec from our own vineyard was whole bunch pressed and fermented in tank to add to the final blend. This 2017 Rosé will retain its fresh, crisp personality for around two years, then begin to mellow and become more complex. It should remain attractive up to and possibly beyond 2020.

Mahi Marlborough Pinot Noir Rosé 2017

Awarded 18/20 Points: Raymond Chan, Nov 2017

"Bright, light strawberry colour with some depth, lighter on the rim. The nose is elegant and delicately expressed with gentle but positive aromas of strawberries and cream, pomegranate and red florals, along with thirst-quenching mineral hints. This has ethereal perfumes. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate has a softly concentrated core with lively and mouthwatering strawberry and cream fruit with notes of cranberries, pomegranate and red florals. The flavours are up-front and the palate flows along a light-textured phenolic line with balancing dryness. The acidity balances and enlivens the mouthfeel, and the wine carries to a long finish with floral nuances and mouthwatering minerals. This is a softly concentrated, lively and mouthwatering rosé with flavours of strawberries and cream, pomegranate and cranberries with red floral lift, on a soft-textured palate. Serve as an aperitif and with antipasto over the next 2 years. 100% Pinot Noir fruit from ‘Ward Farm’, given two and a half hours skin contact and cool-fermented to 12.2% alc. and < 1 g/L RS" Raymond Chan, Nov 2017

Mahi, means ‘our work, our craft’, which this vineyard began in 2001, fulfilling the owners a dream. Whilst The Mahi symbol represents the strength, life and growth of the native New Zealand frond (fern), with the understanding that wine should never be rushed to bottle, respecting its ability to evolve naturally over time. This founding idea behind Mahi leads to each varietal to be respected and the individuality of the various vineyards to be promoted.  We see this in their 2017 Rose's use of 100% Pinot Noir grapes grown on Mahi's ‘Ward Farm’ vineyard, located just outside the township of Ward. Being at the southern end of the Marlborough appellation and so close to the sea, the vineyard benefits from the cool southerly winds that come up the coast and help retain fruit character. The result is an intense flavour that is elegant, juicy with a refreshingly dry finish.
