Description

"Bright, very pale straw colour, near colourless on the rim. The nose is softly full and well-packed with harmoniously melded aromas of gooseberries and passionfruit with subtle notes of nettles and cut grass, fresh herbs and nuances of minerals. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is elegantly presented and concentrated with mouthwatering flavours of gooseberries, cut grass and nettles, with hints of passionfruit. The mouthfeel is refreshing with brisk acidity and the wine flows along a fine-textured phenolic line, leading to a long, lingering finish of nettles, grass and herbs/ This is a fresh, zesty, mouthwatering, finely concentrated Sauvignon Blanc with gooseberry, cut grass, nettle and passionfruit flavours, and a fine textured line. This is very expressive of the Awatere Valley. Serve with Pacific Rim fare over the next 2 years. 60% Upper Awatere fruit, 27% Dashwood, 10% Blind River and 3% Wairau fruit, tank-fermented to 12.5% alc., the wine aged 3 months on lees" Raymond Chan, Spe 2017

"Beautifully lifted, the inviting bouquet shows green rockmelon, feijoa, jasmine and lime zest characters with a hint of musky complexity. The palate is focused and lively, and delivers juicy fruit intensity and vibrant acidity, finishing superbly long and mouth-watering. Bright, flavoursome and highly enjoyable. At its best: now to 2020" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Aug 2017

Pale straw, green tints in the glass with distinctive Awatere Valley characteristics of gooseberry, melon, nettles, passionfruit and herbs on the nose. Classic aromas of gooseberry, melon and nettles over passionfruit and peach, typical of the Awatere Valley. The palate has soft ripe tropical fruit to the fore, backed up herbs and slight minerality. A Sauvignon Blanc with elegance and a tangy, lingering finish. A wine to be shared.

Machine harvested fruit was selected from vineyards in three different parts of the Awatere Valley and stainless steel fermented. This is a well balanced Sauvignon Blanc that showcases the characters typical of the Awatere Valley. Crafted to give the palate greater length whilst still retaining true Marlborough finesse and elegance.
