Description

"This is impressively ripe and fragrant on the nose showing dark plum, blackberry, olive, game and toasted hazelnut characters. The palate is succulent and wonderfully weighted, delivering plush texture and rounded mouthfeel, leading to a lingering silky finish. The wine offers lovely density and richness, brilliantly framed by fine, polished tannins. At its best: now to 2022" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Mar 2018

Inky purple red in the glass with aromas of dark cherry, cassis and plum on the nose. Thois bouquet follows to the palate with additional chocolate, subtle oak and a soft, earthy finish.

Angove Family Winemakers is one of Australia’s leading Organic winemakers. Grapes for this wine were sourced from their organically certified Nanya vineyard and premium certified organic growers in the McLaren Vale region. The 2016 vintage, as with the year previously, started early in all regions due to the warmer than average spring and a dry lead in to the ripening period. Many varieties were ready to harvest at the same time putting pressure on the Angove vineyard teams, but with exeptional care they were able to ride the heat spike that occured in February and deliver first quality grapes to the winery.

The grapes for this wine were harvested at night to make sure that they were as cool as possible and were pressed off skins when optimum flavour and colour levels were achieved. Before being allowed to go through the second malolactic fermentation. Stored in seasoned oak barrels until assemblage the wine has then had minimal handling prior to filtration for bottling at Angove's certified organic winery. Cellaring potential extends to 2019.

Food Pairing: This Vegan friendly wine is fabulous paired with vegan ravioli, or if your not vegan try with the juicy red meat dishes like BBQ grilled steak.
