Description

  • Dry style
  • Apple & apricot
  • Honey
  • Mouth-filling

Pale Gold with hints of green in the glass. An aromatic style, with apple, honey and mineral notes on the nose. Shy, delicate and complex all in one. The palate is mouth filling in style with ample ripe fruit, again apple, honey and apricot notes. This wine is well balanced with the alcohol and acid drying the wine nicely. Persists well to the finish.

Sourced from the Gale Force vineyard in the Lower Dashwood area of the Awatere. The vineyard is extremely exposed to the wind and hence the name. the exposed position means less vigour and smaller berries, giving and intense flavour profile.

The grapes were machine harvested at night. As Riesling is phenolic and no preservative is added to allow the phenolics to oxidise. Cold settled for 36 hours the juice was inoculated and fermented until deemed to be in balance, and the ferment was stopped. Growers mark is the wine deemed best by the winemaking and viticultural team for Farmers Market Cellar up to 2-3 years

Food Pairing: Asian cuisine, seafood, any white meats.
