Description
"Increased barrel fermentation component, now up to 10% with a small percentage on skins. A very textural sauvignon blanc while still retaining ripe stone fruit and nectarine, plus a hint of savoury lees character. The acidity is nicely integrated but still helps drive a lengthy finish. A classy and distinctive wine in a restrained style" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Nov 2016
"Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, lighter on the rim. The nose is firmly packed with a core of cut-grass, nettles, fresh herbs and gooseberries, along with subtle bean notes adding interest and showing the beginnings of secondary development. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate has good intensity of cut-grass, nettle, herb and gooseberry flavours. The fruit forms a fine, tight core, and the wine flows along a fine-textured line with mouthwatering acidity providing energy. The wine carries to a lingering, nuanced finish of cut-grass, gooseberries and hints of minerals. This is a fresh Sauvignon Blanc with good depth of cooler-spectrum nettle, cut-grass and gooseberry flavours and hints of beans and minerals. Match with salads and vegetables, and Mediterranean fare over the next 2 years. Fruit from 12 sites in the Wairau Valley fermented in stainless-steel, with 10% in barrel, and a small portion on skins to 13.0% alc. the barrel component aged 4-5 months on lees" Raymond Chan, Nov 2016
"It is beautifully lifted on the nose showing green rockmelon, passionfruit, lemongrass and sweet basil characters, leading to a fruit-expressive palate that is intense and juicy. The wine delivers bright fruit flavours and vibrant acidity, finishing long and attractive. At its best: now to end of 2018" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Dec 2017
Fragrant aromatics reminiscent of grapefruit peel, bitter lemon, guava, nettle and sweet herbs. Up front smoky notes and stone-like mineral flavours to the finish add complexity and interest.
A full and complex spectrum of flavours, from herbal through to some tropical fruit salad notes. Tangy grapefruit, bitter lemon, redcurrant, tropical fruit and hints of dried thyme. Mouthfeel is rounded with good weight, and is enriched by the barrel ferment components, which add a little structure creaminess too. Acidity is elegant and juicy but by no means tart, and helps to promote a signature dry, stony mineral finish.
The Marble Leaf originates in a selection of Wairau Valley vineyards. The wine was inspired by the native Marble Leaf; the packaging combines natural elements into a beautifully detailed illustration in the shape of a leaf. The illustration evokes the essence of the wine – a fusion of flavours and senses, New Zealand’s natural environment and a delicate touch.
Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc has become famous worldwide for its expression of place and the purity, freshness and intensity of the flavours the combination of soil and climate provides. Framingham 2016 Sauvignon Blanc takes classic Marlborough flavours and marries them to a fine acid structure and rich texture with a mineral twist. The wine’s liveliness and punch are immediately appealing and will provide rewarding drinking over the next 18-24 months.
Food Pairing: The fragrant flavours in this wine will pair well dishes that contain raw tomato such as gazpacho, tomato consommé or tomato vinaigrettes. Also fabulous paired next to young goats' cheeses - or salads that contain goats cheese.

Awesome value for money wine. Tried a six bottle case first available, then a 12 bottle case. Grassy and capsicum on the nose. Dry and full of flavour on the tongue. A well-rounded wine. Completely suitable for quaffing. Also pairs well with flavoured rice salads, as well as green salads. Great with fish, and imagine a range of seafood options would also go well with this wine. Highly recommended.
