Mount Edward Central Otago Gruner Veltliner 2016
Description
This Gruner Veltliner is medium weight in a dry style. Floral, white pepper, and pip-fruit aromas on the nose , similar fruit flavours including spice and pears come through on the palate, all underpinned by mineral characters and refreshing acidity.
We aim to produce wines of purity, precision and balance with a clear resonance of flavour. The wine is drinking extremely well now but can be cellared with confidence for two to four years.
A fruit driven style of Gruner Veltliner with a luscious texture. This Gruner Veltliner is organically produced, Bio Gro Certified, and is made from a Single Estate Vineyard, Morrison Vineyard, in the Lowburn sub region of Central Otago.
Mount Edward is a small wine grower located in the heart of the Gibbston grape growing district, 25 km from Queenstown, in Central Otago, New Zealand.
Started in 1998, Mount Edward has evolved from its simple beginnings; growing pure Central Otago Pinot Noir and Riesling, to a winery exploring the boundaries of what is possible; with sub regional vineyard sites and the region’s most promising varieties.
Winemaker Duncan Forsyth has been making wine in Central Otago since 1996 and together with proprietor John Buchanan, grows and makes Mount Edward’s wines.
Mount Edward’s vineyards are in the Bannockburn, Lowburn and Gibbston sub regions. We use traditional and certified organic approaches to winegrowing, producing wines which reflect soil and season - all from unique single vineyard sites.
