Dense ruby red in colour, this wine is silky and smooth with strong flavours of ripe Doris plum, wild blackberries and a hint of spice. Savoury toasted oak combine with new leather and a hint of dark chocolate to add interest and complexity. Supple tannins and well balanced acidity provide a luscious mouth-feel and lead to a warm long-lasting finish.
Grapes for this wine came from a single vineyard in the Hawkes Bay where they were harvested in the cool of the evening once they had reached maximum maturity. Once settled it was then racked to a mixture of old and new French oak barrels where it underwent secondary fermentation. Drink now or carefully cellar for up to five years from vintage date.
