Description

"Elegantly expressed and brightly fruited, the inviting bouquet shows white stone fruit, fresh pear, jasmine and subtle spice aromas, leading to a smooth palate that is rounded and juicy. The wine displays lovely balance and delicate fruit intensity, complemented by silky texture and well-integrated acidity. At its best: now to 2018" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Oct 2017.

Delicate aromas of ripe pears, stone-fruit and white pepper under-pinned by floral aromatics. A refreshing mid palate with a moreish finish of peaches and cream.

Home to some of the oldest vines in Marlborough and planted by hand, these family vineyards are a reminder of the perseverance and hard work. Today, with 10 estate vineyards 100% family owned and run, Wairau River maintains total commitment to quality by carefully managing these sites to keep yields low.

A fine settled growing season produced wonderfully concentrated and expressive fruit. The near perfect weather conditions ensured harvest began in the last week of March and was completed by mid April.

Grapes were picked in the early hours of the morning to help retain their fresh and vibrant flavours. After gentle pressing the free run juice was transferred to stainless steel tanks and fermented at 15 degrees celcius, the pressings portion was transferred to old oak barriques and naturally fermented. Followed by careful blending and bottling.

We love out Pinot Gris and this is now our go-to wine. A nice bit of acidity and works well with food or on its own. Outstanding value for money

S
An interesting wine. Smooth, not pungent, yet barely reflecting the barrel fermentation flavours expected as indicated in the listed description. Not a wine to be paired with food usually recommended with this varietal, rather, very well suited as an aperitif.

Very palatable - good value
