Pablo Claro Rose 2015 (Spain)

awarded 90/100 points: Sam Kim Wine Orbit

awarded 4 stars: Raymond Chan

"A flavoursome rose; the fragrant bouquet shows red apple, citrus, rockmelon and floral characters with a hint of savoury complexity. It is juicy and vibrant on the palate, and delivers lovely mid palate weight and texture, finishing long and lively. An immediately appealing wine for everyday drinking. At its best: now to end of 2017." Sam Kim Wine Orbit

Made 100% from the native Valencian grape variety Bobal, known for producing soft, fruity, fresh-acid wines, perfect for the production of Rosado. Harvested at night to preserve freshness and cold-macerated before fermentation to enhance natural colour and fruit intensity. Alluring salmon-pink in hue with fresh raspberry and cherry aromas. A delicious dry rose, with abundant berry flavours and a soft, clean finish. A perfect match for seafood, white meats, summer salads, cold-cuts and pasta dishes. Outstanding value.

"An immediately appealing rose, it's beautifully expressed on the nose displaying candied apple, citrus and strawberry aromas. The palate is ripe and juicy with lovely mid palate weight and texture, leading to a lingering smooth finish. At its best: now to 2016" Sam Kim Wine Orbit

A fragrant bouquet of fresh petals, confectionary and strawberry notes dominate the nose. An intensely flavoured palate with lovely richness, finishing balanced and polished. A dry styled wine which is fantastic for warm summer days.

Wild Earth Rose to 2017

Our 2017 Rosé has a beautiful pale pink hue that hints at the array of aromas that will dazzle and delight. Intensely aromatic - the florals and bright red fruit dance in the glass. Energetic aromas of cherries, wild strawberries, and red currant are complemented by hints of fresh rose petals. It is a dry style Rosé with incredible concentration and sweet red fruit that is perfectly balanced by vibrant acidity. Understanding that the result often mirrors the intention, we set out to make a complex Rosé that is balanced and engaging - truly a kaleidoscope for the senses

The 2017 Wild Earth Rosé is comprised of 30% Pinot Gris from an established vineyard in Gibbston with the balance of Pinot Noir coming from a higher elevation site in Lowburn - a favourite for Rosé! These vineyards were selected purposefully for their potential to produce complex and balanced Rosé. The Pinot Noir from the Lowburn vineyard was harvested in early April and was cool fermented in a stainless steel tank to retain freshness. The Gibbston vineyard was picked almost a month later and fermented in older barrels to encourage texture. Grapes from both blocks were left on skins for 2 days before pressing in order to extract the beautiful pink hue.

Ferraton ‘Samorens’ Rose 2016 (France)

Intense and bright rosé colour in the glass with aromas of red berries (raspberries, red currant) in the bouquet. The palate is fresh and lively attack, wine displaying a lot of freshness, roundness with aromas of red fruit (strawberry, raspberry). A lot of minerality on the finish.

The grapes (Grenache (75%), Syrah, Cinsault) for this rosé are grown on vineyards situated on the right bank of the Rhône with alluvial soils of limestone, sand, pebbles and clay. The juice after crushing was cold settling for 24 hours with fermentation, in vats, lasting for 15 days at a temperature between 15 and 19°C.

Spy Valley Rose 2017

Awarded 17.5/20 Points: Raymond Chan, Oct 2017

"Very pale salmon-pink colour, near colourless on the rim. The nose is light and delicately fragrant with aromas of white stonefruits and subtle notes of red fruits and florals, along with thirst-quenching minerals. Dry to taste and light-medium bodied, the palate has a fine, elegantly concentrated core of white stonefruits with subtle red berry fruit and floral elements. The fruit has a delicate richness, balanced by mouthwatering mineral notes and light phenolic textures. The acidity provides good freshness, and the wine carries to a light, minerally finish. This is a delicate and finely concentrated dry rosé with stonefruit, berry and floral flavours and thirst-quenching minerals on a light-textured palate. This is in the Provencal rosé style. Serve as an aperitif and with canapes over the next 2 years. Predominantly Pinot Noir, 95% hand-picked and WBP, 5% saignee, fermented in stainless-steel with a small percentage with solids in barrel to 12.5% alc. and 4.2 g/L RS. A small portion of estate Syrah and Malbec was WBP and tank fermented and added to the final blend" Raymond Chan, Oct 2017

SECRET #4 Select grapes are handpicked from our winery blocks and a portion fermented in oak for the perfect amount of time to create this refreshing and dry Rosé with a delightful richness.

Peach and strawberry fruit aromas with an uplifting floral/ blossom note, with a dry and thirst quenching palate. There is underlying mineral and grapefruit component to the flavours that complement the aroma.

95% of the grapes were handpicked and whole bunch pressed, with 5% being a “ Saignee” of juice immediately drained from handpicked fruit destemmed to vats. A small portion was fermented on solids and in barrels with the remainder undergoing stainless steel tank fermentation. As well as the Pinot Noir a small percentage of Syrah and Malbec from our own vineyard was whole bunch pressed and fermented in tank to add to the final blend. This 2017 Rosé will retain its fresh, crisp personality for around two years, then begin to mellow and become more complex. It should remain attractive up to and possibly beyond 2020.
