Description

"Pale rose with a blush of pink. Dry but not searingly dry, with gentle watermelon and crushed strawberry flavours and an ethereal texture. A charming wine with a perfect balance of subtle sweetness and fruity acidity. Impressive" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine Sep 2017

"Bright, pale strawberry pink colour, lighter on the edge.  The nose is fresh and finely proportioned with aromas of strawberries and cranberries, along with red floral notes and mineral elements.  Dryish to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is refreshingly crisp, with delicate flavours of strawberries, cranberries, watermelon, and subtle hints of herb, red florals and mouthwatering mineral notes.  The flavours are expressed with finesse, and the wine flows with good, refreshing acid energy along a fine line, leading to a light, nuanced finish of cranberries, florals and minerals.  This is an elegant, finely flavoured dryish rosé with strawberry, cranberry, floral and minerally flavours on a refreshing palate  Hand-picked Pinot Noir fruit from the ‘River Block’ cool-fermented to 12.8% alc. and 5.8 g/L RS" Raymond Chan, Nov 2017

"It is beautifully ripe and fragrant on the nose showing nectarine, watermelon, Gala apple and citrus aromas, followed by juicy palate that is elegantly rounded and smooth. The wine offers bright fruit intensity and vibrancy, nicely structured by refreshing acidity. Attractively fruited and instantly appealing. At its best: now to 2019" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Sep 2017
Barrington's 2017 vintage of their River Block Pinot Rose is very balanced wine with a burst of red fruits and a long persistence on the palate. It has elegant aromas of red fruits, raspberry, watermelon and floral notes no the nose. It is off-dry with 5.8g/l of residual sugar.

Conditions in the Alexandra Basin are challenging with semi-arid soils and the most extreme temperatures in New Zealand, they do however, provide the opportunity to produce wines that display the unique character of the region of which the newly released rose is no exception. This elegantly styled wine was crafted by Barrington's award-winning winemaker, Antony Worch. The 100% Pinot grapes were hand picked by Barrington’s families and friends at their single vineyard block. The Barrington family's focus for this wine as all others in their range is to maximise the opportunity to epitomise everything you’ve grown to enjoy from this region and give you a slice of Central Otago in every bottle.

A superb wine with subtle watermelon and raspberry flavours. Dryish but not too dry nor too sweet - a great balance. The pinot noir grape taste added to the experience. Drank from chilled through to room temperature and felt the wine improved as it approached room temperature. Highly recommended.
