Description

"Wonderfully styled, the fragrant bouquet shows blackcurrant, plum, toasted almond and roasted beetroot characters with a hint of dried herb complexity. The palate is succulent and beautifully weighted, and offers excellent fruit purity and intensity, brilliantly complemented by fine texture and chalky tannins. Lovely poise and structure, and promises to evolve gracefully. From the Gimblett Gravels, 2015 Newton's Law is a blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot, syrah and malbec. At its best: now to 2022" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Aug 2017

"Sweet plum, raspberry and dark berry flavours are supported by ripe tannins. Well made and quite gutsy red that offers real value at this price" Taste Magazine, Taste's Top Wine Awards, 2018

"Although the varietal mix was not stated on the wine's temporary label, it is normally a mix of merlot, syrah, cabernet sauvignon and malbec all grown on the Gimblett Gravels. Sweet plum, raspberry and dark berry flavours are supported by ripe tannins. A well-made and quite gutsy red that offers real value at this price" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, October 2017

From the Cornerstone vineyard, in the heart of Gimblett Gravels, Newton’s Law is the latest wine to come from Dr John Forrest and Bob Newton’s partnership. Both men, with their colourful character and strong opinions, have been crafting premium wines from their vineyard since the early 90’s to this day.

2015 Newton’s law is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (31%) Merlot (31%), Syrah (22%) and Malbec (14%). The wine was fermented as smalls parcel in old style concrete fermenters, skin contacted for 14-21 days, pressed and placed in a range of 1-4 year old French oak 225l barriques and aged for approximately 18 months, prior to blending and bottling.

We served this wine at our wedding. It was a huge hit with our red wine drinking guests (and with me once i had the opportunity to try it myself). Even those of our friends who are red wine snobs fell head over heels in love with this wine. In fact, if you’re not careful, they’ll buy it all!

Decent drop for the price. The tannins well expressed should mellow with cellaring
