Bleeding Heart McLaren Vale Shiraz 2016 (Australia)
Description
The nose is inviting and richly fruited, all bright red berried fruit, plums and sweet spice with a hint of savoury oak. The palate is generous and intensely flavoured with a ripe depth of dark berry and cassis flavours framed by soft tannins. Approachable and rewarding now with the trademark richness and depth of Mc Laren Vale.
Bleeding heart was born from shared passion in the wines and vineyards of South Australia. The ancient soils and moderate climate create rich and full-bodied wines that are incredibly satisfying. Few that experience the lifestyle of food and wine or the beautiful landscape could argue that it is not better a bleeding heart than none at all.
Sourced from a combination of established, dry- grown vineyards in central Australia and low-yielding McLaren Vale vineyards. Wines are made and matured by Jim Zerella in Mc Laren Vale. The combination of two regions delivers well balance wines with excellent intensity of flavour whilst maintaining elegance and versatility as a food match.
2016 was blessed by almost perfect vintage conditions. The season started at a cracking pace with warm, dry Spring and early Summer that reduced yields nd required careful attention to soil moisture levels. Crucially there were virtually any heat spikes and Autumn arrived early with refreshing showers. Late ripening conditions were beautifully cool allowing for long slow developement and perfect balance.
