Description

"Fabulous aromas of poached pear, white stone fruit, lemon peel and floral lead to a vibrant palate that is juicy and flavoursome. The wine offers lovely varietal purity and intensity, nicely framed by silky texture and refreshing acidity. At its best: now to 2018" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Oct 2016.

"Lovely pithy, phenolic weight on the palate.  Pear juice, sweet spice, apple skin.  Has the definition so often lacking from Pinot Gris"  Richard Hemmings, Wine Writer UK

This Mystery Awatere Valley Pinot Gris has flavours of white peach and underlying notes of pear, honey and exotic fruits. Elegant and deftly balanced with a dry mouth-watering finish, this wine is highly versatile with food.

the 2016 growing season started out incredibly dry, with some predicting a severe drought. Fortuneately some unseasonal rains in February set the vines up for a great final ripening period. march & April were very consistent, with warm and dry weather experienced troughout Marlborough allowing a harvest that wasnt dictated by the weather. The Pinot Gris fruit from this vintage was extremely clean coming into the winery and the resulting wine has focused, lifted aromatics and beautiful concentration and mouthfeel.

Food Pairing: Enjoy with pasta, chicken or Asian inspired dishes.

We thought this wine delivered outstanding value for the price - in a blind tasting we would have valued it closer to $20.00 value. Hope to buy more!
