"Youthful and enormously promising, with classic delicate frame and poise" Wine Orbit
"Light straw, and it has a restrained, talcy aroma with a beguiling juiciness" The Real Review
Pairing beautifully with any seafood or white meat (of course), but also works admirably with gruyere cheese too!

Description
"Youthful and enormously promising, the elegantly lifted bouquet shows grapefruit, red apple, lime zest and floral characters, followed by a concentrated palate that is taut and firmly structured by racy acidity. Classic delicate frame and poise, destined to evolve magnificently. At its best: 2018 to 2026" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, November 2016
"The colour is very light straw, and it has a restrained, talcy aroma with a beguiling juiciness. It’s intense, delicate, finely crafted and tightly coiled, with lemony acidity. A lovely restrained riesling of line and length. And ageing potential. Ageing: Drink now to 10 years. Food: Salmon gravlax" Huon Hooke, The Real Review, January 2017
"Fresh, concentrated lime fruit with a candied lemon zest. Passion fruit seeds give a zesty acidity and long finish" International Wine Challenge, May 2017
"Pikes Riesling is a subtle, discreet and soulful wine. While many Rieslings take great delight in startling the palate and quickening the pulse, Traditionale does nothing of the sort. It slows life down, soothes furrowed brows and unruffles feathers. It is a delightful elixir of unhurried, generous fruit and mellow tones. It will certainly assuage yourthirst and delight yoursenses with its balletic poise, but it willdo thiswith such grace that you will feel new" Matthew Jukes, 100 Best Australian Wines 2017/18, June 2017
Brilliant, pale green in colour with pristine aromas of lime on the nose. Lemon and grapefruit dominate initially, with some gentle floral notes kicking in behind these in the bouquet also. Maybe just a suggestion of wet slate/stones too. Very typical and very attractive. Palate is fresh, crisp and dry as it always is upon release. The palate is chockful of the citrus characters afore mentioned, well balanced by the zingy acid that provides much of the drive to the finish.
Finishes clean and dry with just a hint of textural grip.
This is the 32nd release of Pike's most important wine. Traditionale always makes a terrific drink upon release, but 5-7 years in the cellar will amply reward those who like their Rieslings with some bottle age.
Food Pairing: Drink with any seafood or white meat (of course), but it does work admirably with gruyere cheese too.
