Description
"A lovely elegant expression, the fragrant bouquet shows red cherry, cranberry, toasted almond and floral characters. The palate is nicely rounded and juicy, and displays attractive fruit intensity and smooth texture, leading to a lingering silky finish. The wine offers immediate appeal. At its best: now to 2019" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, June 2017
"Light, pure pinot noir with a lifted aroma of raspberry jam and cherry leading to a delicately spicy finish. Pretty wine in an appealing and accessible style. Simple but with good varietal definition. Offers value at this price" Bob Campbell, Master Of Wine July 2017
"Ruby-red colour with slight purple hues, a little lighter on the rim. This has a softly full nose with gentle volume of fragrant red cherry and berry fruit aromas, interwoven with red florals and savoury dark herb notes at the core. The aromatics are harmoniously presented. Medium-bodied, the palate has gently rich and luscious fruit flavours of red cherries and berries, along with soft notes of florals and herbs. The mouthfeel is supple, the fruit supported by light, open tannins, and the palate is enlivened by balanced, fresh acidity, enhancing the floral elements. The wine has good core that caries to a lingering finish of red cherry and berry fruit. This is a gently rich and sweet red cherry and berry fruited Pinot Noir with supple and accessible structure. Serve with poultry and pork, and with Asian cuisine over the next 3+ years. Hand-picked Pinot Noir fruit from the Awatere and Wairau Valleys, fermented to 13.0% alc., 35% of the wine aged 10 months in French oak" Raymond Chan, Aug 2017
Dark ruby colour, this wine is very attractive in the glass. This a beautifully fragrant Pinot Noir, with raspberry, dark cherry fruits aromas and hints of spice.
Medium bodied, this wine is juicy and vi-brant on the palate with elegant savoury char-acters, leaving a silky smooth satisfying finish.
The grapes are hand picked from idyllic vineyards in the Awatere Valley and Upper Wairau Valley, Marlborough, New Zealand. The soils are ancient river beds with free draining stony soils and silty clay loams. Viticulture included vertical shoot positioning with cordon spur pruning, providing an average of 4 tonnes per acre. 35% French Oak barrel aged, total maturation was for 10 months. A warm summer provided stunning flavours and structure.
Food Pairing: This wine is perfect with duck, roast lamb and spicy chorizo dishes.
