Description

"If you love southern French reds, this superbly priced wine might be just the ticket. Fabulous aromas of dark fruit, clove, toasted almond and cocoa on the nose. It is succulent and rounded on the palate, and delivers plush mouthfeel and lush fruit intensity, leading to a lingering supple finish. Modern and very satisfying. At its best: now to 2018" Sam Kim, The Wine Orbit, June 2016

"Quite enchanting nose - fresh ripe damson, rosemary and the lightest note of just-ground coffee beans. Absolutely gorgeous! Vibrant and dense red fruit, almost luscious, sashays across the palate and winds itself around the tongue with shimmering energy. A lick of bright acidity and, just playing orchestra to the solo, spice and earthiness and leather and coffee. Tannins bold and muscular and accurately matched to that Roussillon-sun-soaked fruit." Jancis Robinson MW

"Starting out, the 2013 Côtes du Roussillon Villages Les Terroirs is a beautiful effort that has lots of upfront plum, black raspberry, violets and licorice to go with a pure, polished and lengthy feel on the palate. It has some decent tannins lurking under the fruit, but this is already hard to resist." Robert Parkers, The Wine Advocate

A mouthfilling, richly spiced red with an illustrious, medal winning history, Calmel & Joseph needs no ceremony. Just large glasses for serving! It's a Grenache charged red from very old Roussillon vines, so has gorgeous spicy berry fruit in abundance. Purple-red in colour. On the nose offers aromas of black fruit and spice, bay, pepper and thyme. Whilst on the palate, this wine is mouth-filling and has a long finish, with fine tannins adding structure. A generous, very well-balanced wine that can be enjoyed with or without food

The grapes were hand-picked, sorted and destemmed. Alcoholic fermentation then took place at 28°C. Gentle pumping over (10 minutes a day, for 20 days). Spent one month in tank.
