Description

"Ripe, bright and fragrant, the inviting nose shows dark plum, blueberry, floral and subtle nutty characters. The palate is medium-full-bodied and juicy, and displays appealing fruit intensity together with rounded mouthfeel and supple texture. It is youthful and approachable, and offers plenty of tasty flavours." Sam Kim, Wine Orbit.

"Dark, deep, ruby-red colour with black hues, a little lighter on the rim. This has a softly full and gently concentrated nose with well-packed aromas of black plums with dark-red berry fruits, nuances of fruit-cake, spices and dark herbs. Medium-bodied, the palate has moderately deep and soft flavours of black plums, spiced fruit-cake and herbs." Raymond Chan

"Offering fine value, the 2016 vintage (3.5*) is deep ruby, mouthfilling and supple. Made in a 'fruit-driven' style, it's a very harmonious wine, with good depth of fresh, ripe plum and red berry flavours, showing a touch of complexity, and lots of drink-young appeal." Michael Cooper, ONZM

A vibrant rich purple, this wine is very ap-pealing in the glass. Generous plum and hints of chocolate and spice harmoniously blend with soft oak notes. Ripe plum and wild berries combine with spice on the palate following into smooth round tannins.

The grapes are picked from the hill country of Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand. The soils are ancient river beds with free draining stony soils and silty clay loams. The viticulture and vinification process included; vertical shoot positioned trellis was used with two canes pruned and spur pruning, laid down providing an average of 10 tonnes per acre. 50% was aged in French oak barrels for 10 months. The 2016 vintage was a hot long dry summer provided stunning flavours and structure for this outstanding wine.

Food Pairing:This wine is perfect with barbequed meats, and tastes great with rich tomato-based pasta dishes or a delicious aged gouda.
