Description
This special wine takes its name from the owners' two very special Olivia's, Freddie's wife Olivia and James' first born daughter Olivia. Ward Valeey Winemaker's endeavour to make their 'Oliva' Rose a lovely pale pink colour. On the nose, there is lifted aromas of strawberry and raspberry with hints of stone fruit and pear. The palate delivers complex flavours of raspberry, strawberry and melon. A well balanced dry Rose with an attractive long, crisp, clean finish
A well-balanced small crop allowed Ward Valley winemakers to select fragrant ripe Pinot Noir fruit from their Ward Valley Estate Costal Block Rows 102 – 121 Pinot Noir Clones 667 and Abel. The fruit was 100% machine picked in the 1st week of April 2015 and gently destemmed into tank for 7 days of cold soaking, being plunged 4 times per day to lift a fine perfume and soft the red berry fruit. Before bottling in March 2016 14% New French oak Pinot Noir from Ward Valley Estate Mt Victoria Block wine was added to the blended to add depth and complexity.
Food Pairing: The Olivia Rose is perfect for enjoying on its own on hot summer days or pairs beautifully with light fresh meals.
