'This is impressively fruited and wonderfully expressive on the nose showing black/blueberry, spiced cherry, cedar and game characters with a hint of black pepper complexity. The palate is concentrated and flavoursome, and offers excellent fruit purity and silky texture, brilliantly structured by fine tannins. The fruit for this Syrah was carefully selected from a single vineyard in Hawkes Bay. The wine has aromas of dark ripe berries, mixed spice and violets. It’s exotic and aromatic. The palate is rich and layered with flavours of boysenberry, liquorice and cigar.
Fruit for this wine was held cold for four days before fermentation to help extract maximum flavour and colour. The wine was aged in a mixture of new and older French oak and underwent malolactic fermentation before being prepared for bottling.
This Fault Line Syrah is ready to be enjoyed now or cellar for four to five years. Delicious with exotic dishes lightly spiced or a rich chocolate based dessert.
