Description

"88pts... The wine offers elegance and complexity on the nose showing white stone fruit, fig and vanilla characters with hints of toasted hazelnuts and orange zest. The palate delivers succulent fruit intensity and creamy texture, beautifully framed by juicy acidity. The wine shows lovely balance and harmony, finishing long and smooth. At its best: now to 2019" Sam Kim Wine Orbit, July 2017

"Varietal with a pure fruit bouquet of white and yellow peach laced with a citrus and vanilla cushion. On the palate – fruity with peach, citrus and apple flavours then vanilla and oak spice; medium+ acidity and very fine oak tannins; balanced and well-made. Drink now and through 2022" Cameron Douglas, Master of Wine

Lifted and elegant with ripe peach, lemon curd, grilled hazelnuts and a touch of spice. Medium bodied with a rounded palate showing layers of juicy stone fruit, citrus, and spiced biscuit characters, with excellent persistency.

These flavours were enhanced through fermentation in French and American seasoned oak barriques and stainless steel tanks. Secondary characters, such as spice, vanilla and biscuit notes developed with malolactic fermentation, lees stirring and oak aging. Individual barrels and tank batches were selected by the winemaker for the blend.

A warm growing season, with characteristically cool nights made 2016 an ideal vintage, and allowed concentration of flavours. Low rainfall eliminated disease pressure which resulted in high quality fruit. A blend of Chardonnay clones 95, 15 and 6, grown on clay based soils in the Wairau Valley of Marlborough.
