2 x Mommessin Beaujolais - Village 'Grandes Mises' 2015 (Beaujolais)
AWARDED GOLD MEDAL: CONCOURS INTERNATIONAL DE LYON 2016
AWARDED GOLD MEDAL: CONCOURS INTERNATIONAL DU GAMAY 2017
If you love Pinot, you must try this! Dark berries, floral pastilles and a hint of spiciness on the expressive nose. In a forward, seductive style, offering sweet blackberry and blueberry flavors and a touch of spicecake. Closes supple and juicy, showing no obvious tannins and very good, fruity persistence.
2 x Domaine Roche Cotes du Rhone 2015 (Rhone Valley)
AWARDED 90-92/100 points: Robert Parkers, The Wine Advocate
Run by the young Roman Roche, Domaine Roche is quickly becoming one of my favorite estates in Cairanne...they also produce a terrific Cotes du Rhone. Robert Parkers, The Wine Advocate
Checking in as a blend of 60% Grenache and 20% each of Syrah and Carignan, the smokin’ good 2015 Côtes du Rhône is a big, fruit-forward, full-bodied beauty that’s loaded with notions of black fruits, chocolate and earthy minerality. This dense, mouth-filling and pleasure-bent effort should be bought by the case and drunk over the coming 4-5 years.
2 x Duchesse de Berry Bordeaux 2014 (Bordeaux)
AWARDED GOLD MEDAL: Gilbert & Gaillard 2016
Bordeaux is one of the world's largest and most famous winemaking regions, producing wines that range from 'everyday drinking' to some of the most luxurious, exotic, and expensive on the planet! Thankfully, Duchesse de Berry is more on the 'everyday drinking' camp - though its quality is not to be sniffed at. It is surprisingly well-structured and complex for the price and even has a Gold Medal to prove its pedigree. Classic Cabernet-predominant cigar-box, clove and cassis notes.
